VENUE: The Sigiria Forest, Thigiri Lane Gate (Karura)

This June on Saturday 8th , we’re hosting an exciting 7km Forest Loop Relay Challenge . It promises to be a delightful fusion of fitness, teamwork & fun for participants of all ages as the 4 runners in each team work together to tackle a beautiful 7km forest trail route with at least each runner doing 2 loops – that is a team leg and an individual leg.

They will encounter the thrill of the beautiful forest trails strategically tackling it individually & more importantly as a team. The team shall be as fast as it’s slowest team member! The excitement will be something else in this event. Participants will not only enjoy the physical challenge of the course but also the thrill of coming up with a plan to finish all the 5 loops as fast as possible as a team… hence a Relay .

It’s a wonderful opportunity for friends, families & individuals alike to celebrate the joy of our fitness journey in a vibrant & active community setting while also appreciating our environment in the Beautiful Blissful Forest.

EVENT FORMAT:

1. All the 104 participants (ALL 4 team members of the 26 teams) will take Loop No.1 together. This is the team leg. In the spirit and slogan of “We ain’t leaving anyone behind” the finishing time of the slowest team member will be recorded at the team time for Loop 1. It is therefore important to motivate, support and encourage your slowest team member. That will be quiet a sight!
2. Each team receive their button from the official once all team members have finished loop No.1. They will then be eligible to start the individual legs. Teamwork & team support will be vital to make sure you don’t leave your slowest team member behind. Your team therefore shall be as fast as your slowest team member.
3. Once the team leg is concluded, each of the 4 runners in the team must then run an individual leg from start to finish point. Organize your team members to identify who runs what leg in order to finish all of them collectively within the shortest aggregate time possible.
4. The official finishing team time will be the time when the 4th team player crosses the finish line in the 4th individual leg.
5. Each leg must be finished within 1hr. If the team goes beyond the hour mark, as a penalty, the officials will disqualify the team from the main competitive listing. However the team may continue running but will have been categorized at DSQ in the official list.
6. Teams can support, escort & motivate their runners within the loop route on condition they give way to the faster overtaking teams by running on the left side of the single &/or jeep forest trails. Fairness is key. Any intentional obstruction will lead to disqualification by the Race Officials within the race period or even after the race.
7. There will be at least one water, nutrition & support station within loop & another at the start/finish point.

VENUE:-
The Sigiria Forest is part of the large Karura Forest. It uses a separate gate from the more popular Karura Forest. It is Children, Pet & Pram friendly. Food & health drinks will be available at the venue at the Sigiria Coffee Shop at own cost. A pin location for Sigiria Forest will be provided herein and also just before the event date.

Spectators/Supporters:

No charges for spectators & supporters. But they have to pay their own Forest entry fees directly on event day at the Sigiria Forest gate.

* You have to be in a team of 4.
* Each team to have a team name of their own choice.
* Each team to have a captain who will liaise with Fitflex Sportx Adventures on behalf of his/her team.
* Payments to be made as a team (No individual registration payments will be accepted).
* Slots available for 26 teams.
* All registration is online.
* There will be No Refunds due to rain, lightning or venue rain damage cancellation
* There will be No Transfer of online entries .
* All ages welcome.
* Registration closes at least 1 week before event date or when ALL team slots are taken, whichever comes earlier.
* All bibs will be issued in the last week before the event date with the coordination of the team captains & Fitflex Sportx Adventures. As such no bib issuance will be done at Sigiria Forest Venue on event day.
